Resveratrol
was first seen as beneficial for the heart.
Research indicates that it may also stop new cancer cells from forming
and could destroy some existing cancers.
It protects your body from inflammation. This
is a natural response in your body, when the white blood cells protect you from
bacteria and viruses. However, inflammation has been linked to many
degenerative diseases, including heart disease.
It is an antioxidant
that can cross the blood brain barrier to help protect your brain and nervous
system and protect your cells from free radical damage. It keeps your heart
healthy and improves the elasticity of your blood vessels. Resveratrol makes platelets in the bloodstream less sticky,
and so could increase the risk of bleeding in people who are on warfarin or
other anti-inflammatory drugs.
Include this antioxidant into your diet in order to generate
better health.Research has indicated that resveratrol may assist with
longevity. It also protects muscle health by reducing muscle wasting which is
associated with cancer.
Scientists report that cocoa powder, baking chocolate and dark chocolate are all rich in resveratrol. Cocoa powder contain more than peanuts and peanut butter per serving, but less than red grapes and wine.
Information on cocoa received from Hershey
